Marquee Tournament News Including European Open

As we wait for things to get back to normal so we can all start stacking again, here are some WSSA Marquee Tournament updates.

2020 AAU Junior Olympic Games

The AAU Junior Olympics are still scheduled for July 31st – August 2nd but given the conditions surrounding COVID-19, the WSSA has decided not to participate in this year’s event. Our planning for this event happens in April and May and there are still too many unknown factors to have confidence that stackers and families will be able to participate. We look forward to next year’s 2021 AAU Junior Olympic Games!

2020 European Open

The European Open, originally scheduled for August 28-30 in Denmark will be postponed one year. The new date will be August 27-29, 2021, at the same location in Frederiksberg, Denmark. Our hosts, Henrik Engell-Hedager from Denmark and Jeremy Simmonds from UK are both very excited to hold this marquee tournament but want to do it at a time when everyone feels good about traveling, so plan on joining everyone in Denmark next year in August!

2020 Asian Open

This year’s Asian Open is a go! The date is November 1, 2020 and the location is Seoul, South Korea. Registration opens May 1 and all the tournament details are available on the 2020 Asian Open tournament page. Our host Woosuk Kang and his team from WSSA Korea have an exciting event planned so start making your plans now.

2020 World Championships

Although this year’s 2020 World Championships did not happen in April 2020 as originally planned, Allan Ong and his team in Singapore will still be hosting the event one year later on April 2-4, 2021. As is being done with the delayed 2020 Olympics, next year’s event will still be held as the 2020 World Sport Stacking Championships. Expect a fantastic World Championships from Allan and his team.
